According to recent statistics, there are 1 billion businesses that are active on Facebook. Some marketers are still hesitant on the productivity of Facebook advertising for their businesses. This is true of small businesses. With a small budget, there are limited options, and you don’t want to blow your budget because of a few wrong turns. However, it is possible to achieve great results from Facebook.

Create a business page separate from your personal page. Your business should have a standalone page, where customers and potential prospects can visit, check out, like, comment and share. If it is combined with your personal page, it will lose the effectiveness you are trying to bring to your brand. It will also leave customers feeling confused and disoriented. It should not be cluttered with your personal information.

Choose a standout profile picture

Choose a profile picture with care. If you plan to use a business logo, ensure this is the picture you have used throughout your social media platforms. Put your best foot forward and post a flattering profile picture. It should be an engaging picture, one that attracts the attention of people. As much as you want a great looking photo, it shouldn’t be too cheesy. For instance, if you have a restaurant, post a picture of the food and if you own a retail store, take a picture of some models wearing a few of the clothes in the store.

Acquire followers, this is your biggest responsibility. Initially, your volume will be low so you may not see the desired results. You should target potential customers that may be meaningful to the business. Ask people to like you, comment or follow you. Sometimes, small businesses have to get right to the point and just ask. You can also offer discounts to make the bargain seem more attractive. For every like, for instance, you can give a 5% reward or discount from your store. Sometimes you have to give a little to get something back which is even bigger.

Post relevant and authentic content. Can you count the number of times you’ve read the exact same post in different variations? This puts people off. People just crave for something unique and original to read. Content should be engaging and interesting with a touch of excitement, good humour and drama. Tell stories through your content. There are not enough good stories in the world to go around. Add photos to your stories to make the posts visually appealing. If you have a salon, for instance, post before and after pictures, people love to look at real-life, candid moments.
